We Are Hopeful. And the Fight Continues.

Today, we feel something we have needed for a long time: hope.

At Hope Immigration, we are excited about last night’s election results and the opportunity a Democratic majority in Congress brings. For those of us who work alongside immigrant families every day, this is deeply personal. We know the people whose lives are affected by immigration policy. We hear their fears, share their frustrations, and see how hard they work to build a future here.

We are ready for meaningful change. We also want to be honest about what comes next.

The new Congress takes office in January. Until then, the incoming majority cannot exercise its new authority. Even afterward, a change in congressional leadership will not automatically change immigration policies, resolve pending cases, or end harmful enforcement practices. The administration remains in office, and the work ahead will be difficult.

But there is now an opportunity for stronger oversight—and we expect our elected leaders to use it.

We want serious investigations into unlawful detention, deaths in immigration custody, and killings involving federal immigration enforcement. Families deserve answers. Where officials have violated the law, there must be consequences. No agency, badge, or political office should place anyone above accountability.

We also want Congress to hold U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services accountable for unacceptable adjudication delays. Behind every pending application is a person: a survivor waiting for stability, a family waiting to reunite, someone waiting for permission to work, or a longtime resident waiting to become a citizen.

These delays have real costs. They affect livelihoods, health, safety, and the ability to plan a life. Families deserve more than another instruction to keep waiting. They deserve clear explanations, meaningful oversight, and timely decisions.

Our expectations do not disappear when the people we support win. We will press the incoming majority to turn campaign promises into action, and we will speak up when they fall short.

To our clients and community: this election does not immediately change your immigration status or your case. Please continue following your legal team’s guidance and meeting every deadline. We will keep you informed as actual changes happen.

Today, we can celebrate. We can breathe a little more deeply. We can welcome the possibility of a better path forward.

And we will keep doing the work: preparing cases, defending our clients’ rights, demanding accountability, and standing beside families who deserve dignity and fairness.

We are hopeful. The fight continues. And we are still here with you.
